The capital of South Kalimantan is Banjarmasin, which has an airport serving many flights from Jakarta and elsewhere in the archipelago.

Besar (Halau Halau) is the highest point of the Meratus Mountains and is frequently climbed from Loksado. Kahung, however, is more remote and requires a longer expedition of four days or so. Sebatung is the highest point of Pulau Laut, but there may not be a trail to the true summit.
