The Malaysian state of Sarawak lies in the northwest part of the island of Borneo. The capital is Kuching, which has an international airport.

The state includes the Gunung Mulu National Park and the highest peak can be reached in a 4 day return trip. It takes a similar amount of time to climb nearby Murud.

Little is currently known about the remote Bukit Batu. Gunung Gading, Serapi and Santubong are all good day-trips from Kuching.

IMPORTANT: There are 5 peaks on the border with Indonesia which are not listed in the table below but rather on the Indonesian province pages. All are at least as accessible from the Malaysian side, if not moreso. Gunung Penrissen and Gunung Berumput – Gunung Kanyi are both on the border with Indonesia’s West Kalimantan province and most often hiked from the Sarawak side. Gunung Melatai is also on the border with West Kalimantan but there is no information on access from either side. Finally, there are two peaks – Apad Runan and Batu Tiban – which are on the border with Indonesia’s North Kalimantan province. Apad Runan has been hiked a few times from the Sarawak side near Bario. So that is 5 additional peaks in total that are located exactly along the border between Malaysian Sarawak and Indonesian Kalimantan.
