Bagging It!
More popularly known as Gunung Bentuang in recent years, Gunung Merdai can be climbed from Desa Perbuak, Kebupaten Landak. There is a waterfall called Sempatung on its slopes which is reached in about 4 hours. One GPS reading taken in 2020 gave only 1,393m but the summit signs made by various local hiking clubs suggest as high as 1,421m.
It appears that there are good views from the summit, as there are a few videos available online. According to Benjamin, a local hiker, it requires at least 4 days including travel time from/to the nearest major city with a large airport which is Pontianak.
