Khao Salak Phet is the highest peak on Ko Chang Island, in Trat Province. The mountain is usually climbed from the south and offers panoramic views of the island and surrounding sea. The trekking route gains altitude through forest and slippery jungle steps before reaching the summit ridge. The highest point is accessible with some scrambling over rocks.
Practicalities
-
- Getting there: Fairly obvious once on the island.
-
- Permits: As part of Mu Ko Chang National Park, entry fees are required (typically 200 THB per person, plus vehicle fee). A local guide is mandatory and treks are often organized through park-licensed operators at Salakphet Bay. The forested terrain and unofficial path require guided navigation to ensure safety.

Origins and Meaning
