Central Kalimantan (Kalimantan Tengah) is one of five Indonesian provinces in the island of Borneo. The provincial capital is Palangkaraya. The mountainous area is close to the border with neighbouring West Kalimantan.
Not much is known about the mountains in the province, but Bukit Raya is the highest peak in Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo) and involves a 9 day expedition (from/to Jakarta) from the West Kalimantan side which can be done with the help of Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park staff.
A fascinating 250m vertical stone cliff pinnacle known as Puruk Sandukui (or Bukit Telunjuk) is located in the northern part of the province known as Murung Raya.
