Bagging It!
Apparently also known as Núi Phú Luong, this mountain is popular with local hikers and doable in one long day. The main two routes are from Xa Ho, Yen Bai and from Nam Nghiep, Son La. The Xa Ho direction is mainly bare hill terrain, while the Nam Nghiep side includes forest tracks.
From Xa Ho, Yen Bai, the trailhead is due south of the peak at the road end at an elevation of around 1,250m. There looks to be a camp area at around 1,800m. The Nam Nghiep approach is from north-west of the peak and it may be possible to start as high up as 1,700m.
It can get busy with local hikers at weekends. The views at the top look to be fantastic in clear conditions.

Origins and Meaning
Ta Chi Nhu is H’mong for “Buffalo Foot Mountain”: Nhu = buffalo, Chi = footprint/track. The name probably refers to local tradition of herding buffaloes grazing this mountain.
