Bagging It!
Phou Khe is located on the border between Nan Province, Thailand, and Sainyabuli Province, Lao. The mountain is part of the Luang Prabang Range, which forms a natural border between Laos and Thailand, and it ranks among the region’s most prominent peaks.
It is best approached from the Thai side on the west from near Ban Salai. There are small villages up the hillside as far as around 1,150m. It’s not as popular as might be expected given its height and therefore the trail is a bit overgrown. There’s a border marker at the summit.
