Bagging It!
Located within Nat Ma Taung National Park (established 1994), Mount Victoria (also known as Khaw-nu-soum or Khonuamthung) is one of Myanmar’s few accessible mountains. There are numerous trails across the mountain for which a local guide is essential. It is covered in large rhododendron trees that bloom duringthe dry season from October to February. A road leads all the way to the top but you need to either pay a local to ferry tou up there or trek (or cycle) to the top in 2-3 hours. A hike exploring the summit area can also be done in 2 or 3 hours. The area is popular with birdwatchers. There is a Buddha statue at the vew top and a golden pagoda nearby (Zina Man Aung Pagoda) to the west. The views are panoramic from both.

Origins and Meaning
