Bagging It!
Mount Calavite forms part of the Mount Calavite Wildlife Sanctuary, a protected area established initially as a game refuge and bird sanctuary in 1920, later expanded to its current 18,016 ha in 2000. It is a vital ecological zone and one of only three areas on Mindoro known to support populations of the endemic Mindoro tamaraw—alongside rare birds like the Mindoro bleeding-heart, hornbill, spotted imperial pigeon, and scarlet-collared flowerpecker.
