Bagging It!
Mount Bataan (also known as Baktutan Peak) is accessed via numerous routes, some of which require some technical scrambling. The range as a whole appears to be known as Mount Marivales.
Options include a route from the south above Marivales (150m) via Almasiga Campsite (880m) and Kilabot Peak (1,200m) and a route from the north-west above Hamlet (170m) via Pantingan Peak (1,350m) and Garuchas Peak (1,300m).
There’s an alternative eastern ridge accessible from the southern trail, but it doesn’t lead to the true summit. Before Almasiga campsite take a right at the junction up the Tarak trail to Tarak Peak (1,070m). From here you can continue along the ridge to the north towards El Saco Peak (1,180m) or descend to the south-east via Tarak Campsite (970m) and Papaya River Campsite (540m) and down towards the southern coast.
