Pedantic Press – British publisher of excellent books about mountains, including ‘The Relative Mountains of Earth: The Ribus’ (2024) and ‘The Revised Relative Hills of Britain’ (2025).

The Smithsonian – A fantastic resource with pictures and data for thousands of volcanoes across the planet.

Regional Safety Reports – Curated, field-based insights on natural hazards, infrastructure and security across Southeast Asia for travellers, researchers and organisations.

Volcanological Survey Indonesia – Stay up-to-date with the latest alerts about volcanic activity in Indonesia.

Trekking East Timor – A great site about hikes and culture in Timor-Leste.

Java Lava – Legendary Jakarta-based informal hiking group (mostly expats). Probably the best group to join if you have just moved to Java.

P600.org – An excellent collection of mountain images and trip reports from across the world, run by Deividas Valaitis, a friend of Gunung Bagging and someone who has helped the site greatly by developing a bespoke maps plugin for us. The focus is on mountains with a prominence of 600 metres or more, hence the name.
