Bagging It!
Also known as Yod Doi Chom Hod, this is not a very popular mountain for hikers but has a golden pagoda at the summit and appears to be ascended by monks. The views looks expansive and there are apparently two Makhampom (Indian gooseberry) trees at the top. The best approach is almost certainly from Wat Mon Hin Lai Buddhist temple (1,250m) which is directly south of the peak. Almost certainly doable as a dayhike.
Practicalities
-
- Getting there: Head north from Chiang Mai then approach from the east.
-
- Permits: You may need a permit via Sri Lanna National Park but as it isn’t very popular this process may not be formal yet.
-
- Water sources: Unknown, assume none.
