Practicalities

    • Getting there: To reach Mount Hibok-Hibok, first travel to Camiguin Island. The common route is to fly into Laguindingan International Airport near Cagayan de Oro. From the airport, you can take a bus to Balingoan port and then a ferry to Camiguin Island. Upon arriving at Camiguin, local public transportation such as jeepneys or multicabs can take you to the jump-off point near Catarman municipality, which is the usual starting point for the hike.
    • Permits: Entry and trekking permits are managed under the protected area status of the Timpoong and Hibok-Hibok Natural Monument. Visitation requires registration with the local municipality or the Department of Environment and Natural Resources offices overseeing the natural monument. It is advised to secure permits ahead of time and consider hiring local guides to ensure safety and environmental respect.
    • Water sources: The trail has several natural water sources, including streams and springs along the ascent, making it possible to refill water supplies. However, trekkers should carry adequate water and purification means, especially during dry seasons or extended climbs.
