Bud Bongao, also known as Sibutu Peak, is a small mountain located on Bongao Island, Tawi-Tawi province. The mountain actually consists of six limestone pillar peaks, with Sibutu Peak as the highest among them.
Bud Bongao is part of the Bongao Peak Eco-Tourism Park, a 250-hectare forest considered one of the last remaining moist forests in the Sulu Archipelago. The mountain is sacred to the indigenous Sama Dilaut people and has cultural and spiritual significance. It is said to include burial sites of early Islamic preachers associated with the arrival of Islam in the Philippines.
The main hiking trail starts on the southern side near sea level at Barangay Pasiagan and features a cobblestone path with 3,608 steps leading to Tambisan Peak, the main viewpoint at about 317 meters elevation. Other peak names in the mini-range include Mount Pajar, Simunul Peak (328m) and Tinondakan Peak (309m).
