Bagging It!
Steep-sided and impressive. There’s a gold pagoda beneath the summit which has a white pagoda. According to one source, this is “the mountain where the Buddha Suwannasama and his parents lived and meditated as hermits. This is the mountain where the Maha Bodha Myaing Sayadaw took his vows and meditated. If you come from Taunggyi to Kyaung Tong, after crossing the Takaw Bridge over the Thanlwin River, stay overnight at the Seven Mile Village and drive south from Seven Mile Village early in the morning along the dirt road. If you want to meditate and pray peacefully, you need to bring a packed lunch and food. It is important to pack and collect any leftover food and bring it back with you. There is a vacant lot at the foot of the mountain to park your car. From the parking lot, follow the stairs up the mountain to the top, which is about six thousand feet above sea level. The path up is steep, so take a leisurely stroll. The view of the Thanlwin River from the top is very beautiful. In the mountains, couples who are courting each other often break up if they hold hands or hug each other.”
The route up the ridge appears to be from the south.
