Weh island is a small volcanic island to the northwest of the island of Sumatra. It is a wildlife protection area and is attracting more and more visitors. The highest peak has not erupted in recent times.
There are daily fast ferries to Weh (or Sabang as it is also known) from Banda Aceh which take less than one hour.
